Introduction

  The Mutlow's School of Motoring was formed in 1990 by Kevin Mutlow, then aged 21.
  Kevin qualified as an instructor passing all three exams first time, shortly after his twenty
  first birthday: at the time it was thought that he was one of the youngest qualified driving
  instructors in the UK. At the time, Kevin worked for the British School of Motoring, covering
  the Braintree and Dunmow areas, but after twelve months Kevin decided to go it alone.
  Within six months of running his own driving school, he recruited two additional instructors
  one of whom is still with the school some 14 years later.

  By 1995, Kevin was running one of the largest schools within the Essex area, with a fleet
  of twelve cars and twelve instructors. As the 1990s progressed, the school grew further
  both in terms of size and locations covered, now expanding to the coastlines of Essex and
  as far as Brentwood. The school currently has over 40 cars and instructors, location all
  over Essex, making the school one of the largest in the East Anglia area.

  Kevin is still a fully qualified instructor, although he now spends relatively little time out on
  the road, instead dedicating his time to the busy office, his many instructors, and the
  instructor training department. Kevin comments that he still thoroughly enjoys running the
  school, but does miss his time instructing new drivers, although enjoys hearing of the
  successes of his instructors and their pupils.
